Crispy Sesame Tempeh Squares

These crispy sesame tempeh squares are the tastiest snack to share with friends and family or as a fancy starter at your next three-course dinner. You will be blown away with the crunchy and tasty flavours in these dreamy squares!

Ingredients

Tiba Tempeh Traditional Block
Sesame seeds
Chopped coriander and spring onions
2 Tbsp Oil for frying

Tempeh Marinade

1 lime, juiced
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp sesame oil
3 tbsp maple syrup or molasses
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbsp ginger root, peeled and minced
1 spring onion

Batter

4 tbsp rice flour
2 tbsp water or more if necessary

Method

Slice the tempeh into 8 slabs
Prep the marinade by bruising the spring onion with a knife, then transfer to a bowl and add marinade ingredients
Add the tempeh to the marinade bowl
Mix the rice flour and water for batter, coat the marinated tempeh then set aside for a few minutes
Add the sesame seeds to a plate and coat tempeh
Heat a pan and add the oil
Add the tempeh and fry until golden golden. Once cooked, place it on a plate with kitchen towel
Serve it with your preferred dipping sauce (e.g.: Teriyaki, Sweet Chilli, Soy Sauce)
